Holy Grail Re-release Alert : Air Jordan 11 “Space Jam”

The Jordan XI "Space Jam", one of the best known sneakers of all time, will grace us again this year on November 27th 2009 as a Quickstrike. The Jordan 11 was first seen during the 1995-1996 NBA season on Michael Jordan's feet, when he won the championship with the Chicago Bulls. The sneakers then appeared again on the blockbuster "Space Jam", released in 1996.

Bookmark the date guys, seriously. You might as well name it a double Quickstrike since its already well known that these sneakers will fly away - FAST.

QUICKSTRIKE : Nitro Microphone Underground x Nike Air Force 1 Supreme

Nitro Microphone Underground and Nike collab once again to bring us a new design of the Air Force Supreme, for their 10th anniversary.

“Featuring a faux 24K upper wrapped in heavy-duty black-on-black crackle, this is a shoe fit for hip-hop royalty. In keeping with the occasion, the right tongue is woven with the year ‘1999’ while the left reads ‘2009’. The laces are adorned with gold jewels and the lace-tips are crowned with gold screw-top caps, giving them extra weight.”

This WILL BE a Quickstrike, set to be released in September. Keep your eyes peeled for the release.

Nike Dunk Low Ultraman

Here we go. If its not bad enough that the hottest sneakers around are released ONLY in Asia, we have sneaker companies like Nike who continue to be influenced by Japan. Life as a sneaker head would be so much simpler if i just lived in Asia, right? That grudge aside, this sneak is influenced by the fictional Japanese character Ultraman. The back sports a metallic silver, with red accents on the heel, toebox and lace holes.

Doesn't this shoe colorway remind you of Ultraman's Suit? Of course it does. No matter how you want to slice it, this shoe looks HOT.

As per the case with nearly ALL hot sneakers, this was NOT released in the US to my knowledge. So if you want to cop a pair, go march on over to e-Bay and search for a pair in your size. It should be between $100-200 USD depending on size.

I should really start a petition to have more good looking sneakers released in the US........

New Balance A-20's

New Balance strikes again with the A-20, a Moccasin inspired sneaker influenced by the Navajo tribe. You get it all : leather heel tassels, rainbow bands similar to the patterns found in traditional Navajo textiles and solid cross stitching. Not to mention - the sneaker looks pretty comfy too. It comes two different colorways as well.

Some say this is a Japan only release (We all know how that goes, the best stuff only gets released in Japan.) Other people say that its a Worldwide release. But what I want to tell you, is to cop these two colorways at Atmos. Word on the street is they will be available somewhere between early September and October.

Nobody said the sneaker game was easy. Hey, if you fail at translating the Atmos page, there's always e-Bay if you really want them. Good luck!

P.S. Here's the link to the English version of the Atmos site. Lets all pray that the A-20's show up there soon! Click here.

Nike Quickstrike "Spike Lee Pack"

This year marks 20 years since the release of the classic film, 'Do The Right Thing' by Spike Lee. Although Jordan Brand has honored Spike many times in the past, Nike for the first time also is releasing a pack to honor the acclaimed director. Some of you may remember the earlier release of the "Do The Right Thing" Pack released by Jordan Brand in early July shown here.

However, that's not what we are focusing on today. This second pack features a Nike Big High and a Nike Blazer High. The Nike Big Nike High is in a classic red/black/white colorway that bears striking resemblance to the colorway of the Chicago Bulls.

The Nike Blazer High is a white/black/red/green colorway that brings to mind Sal's Pizza Shop in "Do The Right Thing." Both sneakers also feature a tongue tag with glasses.

Sneakers are serious business just like the clip above shows, and this pack is too. In case you were wondering, this IS a Quickstrike. No release date has been announced yet but keep your eyes peeled for the release of this sneaker!

Nike Dunk Hi Black/White/Gum

Sometimes a simple design is all it takes to make a fresh sneaker, and that's exactly what Nike did in this newest colorway of the Nike Dunk High. The upper is made out of an all black canvas, with a white nylon tongue and a white Swoosh. The bottom consists of a white mid-sole and a gum outsole.

Wonder Who? Wonder Woman Reebok Freestyle

That's right, the Reebok "Wonder Woman" Freestyle colorway has finally landed, and let me say it is gorgeous! The back upper is covered with the American flag, while the rest is covered in red, white and check this, metalic gold accenting inspired by her indestructable bracelets. That being said, this obviously isn't a sneaker you could pull off every single solid day. But if your a collector, patriot, comic book fan or you simply love Wonder Woman, these are a must have. Get yours today at http://www.schuh.co.uk/.

Nike Hyperdunk Metallic/Eggplant Pack

Todays Spotlight : Interview With Anna Balboa

Anna Balboa was featured last week at our Sneaker Art Event. As some of you may remember, she did the killer looking light boxes that caught every one's attention as soon as they walked in.

She is a contemporary artist from Barcelona, Spain who manages to make every piece of artwork scream with positive energy. Today I managed to catch up with her and ask her some questions about art, what drives her to continue, and sneakers.

How long have you been painting, Anna?

I have been painting for more than 15 years. I started first with photography and then I switched to painting and drawing. Recently I switched back to photography. You can see some of my work here.

What mediums do you usually use and what do you typically like to paint?

I like to use a lot of acrylics and enamels. I love it when things look glossy! This probably stems from when I studied Ceramics in Barcelona, Spain. Its amazing to see the finished pottery pieces coming out from the oven! That's real magic right there. I also do many artworks that feature mixed media collages of photos and paintings. Very often buyers ask me if the paintings on the paper are tiles! Sometimes I do abstract artworks on canvas with figurative, imaginary characters like little animals, lots of birds, flowers, minotaurs, unicorns etc. Some days I wish that I could see and feel them all around me talking, smiling, singing hugging and loving each other. Painting scenes like that makes me feel like I am in a wonderland, I really imagine some of the little characters pulling my fingers and my legs demanding attention.

What actually inspires you to draw your artwork? Do sneakers play any role in that as well?

People, Mother Nature and places where I go all inspire me and show up in my artwork. Everyone just seems interconnected, no matter if they are known creators or unknown ones. Its not the major influence of one person, but it is everyone with their different view points that influences me. I was born with the ability to create, so I try to share and make a better world with my art. Sneakers also play a role in my work. For a couple years I was a performer on the street in Miami Beach, by Lincoln Road Mall. I would go all out by putting an hours worth of make up on my face, two outfits painted and designed by me along with my sneakers. It was a way to make me feel very alive and vivid, and also to convey my energy.

Anna as a performer...such energy!

What are some past pieces you have done?

When I started painting I painted everything. Sneakers, my clothes, t-shirts, bags, baby shoes, tables, chairs, everything.

Anna's Sneaker Art work.

Are their any upcoming events that you might be featured in?
Yes, I have a new project for Art Basel, and I am currently in talks for a new show beginning October 1st. I am very happy about it!

What do you think will happen in the next year for you? What are your thoughts about the world?

Who knows! It's not like I have a Crystal Ball! I believe in good things, and I constantly stay optimistic and positive. I think we are currently experiencing a lot of good changes in the world after many years of chaos. We live in a world where if we make mistakes there are chances to correct and to adjust for better results. Make no mistake, improving from mistakes is a true divine challenge. There are so many possibilities of success however that it's impossible to "fail all the time". If you open your senses you can see multiple choices, with many surprises and secrets in and out of the very air we breathe. Its important to remember that life never ends, and it is eternal and infinite. Just living and being able to tap into the artistic side of things makes me feel so happy. Its like a gift from heaven... I feel like a child asking the Energy "can I play with you again?" And each time the answer is YES you can! Then I ask, "do I need anything to play?" and it responds "Nope its free!" Sometimes I wonder if this is a joke!

That's a real positive perspective! Not a lot of people have that anymore. Switching gears now, what is your favorite pair of sneakers and why?

I like Puma sneakers, especially the Ferrari series. I love them, my feet are slim and it fits pretty well, even though they have more models for men than for women. I also like Reebok's because are light and flexible, like the ones for volley ball. The boot style of Nike is also a favorite of mine.

If you had the ability to create a pair of sneakers what would it look like and what would it do?

I would create a pair of silver flying sneakers that I could fly with to travel to unknown civilizations and see the Earth from a different vantage point. Hopefully with that experience I would be able to help shape a world where everyone has food to eat, clothes to wear, a roof over their head and a peaceful place to stay. My sneakers would also be able to play music out of them ^.^

Your imagination is endless Anna! Any shout outs you would like to make before we wrap up?

To my dearest Anita, this is my gift to you, unconditional love and freedom! I am just providing you with the right tools for you to experience how beautiful life is.

Thanks a bunch Anna! Hopefully ill see you in the winter for your Art Basel show!

I hope so too! See you soon!

To the readers : I would love it in the future if you could give me some feedback with questions you would want asked in future interviews. E-mail me suggestions at dtgimbel@gmail.com

New Balance 576 x atmos “Face Off 2 Turbo”

Who ever said you can't look fly in New Balance sneakers? Well known Japanese retailer Atmos doesn't seem to think so. And truly, to be honest, their newest collaboration with New Balance is on point. The graphic on the tongue is simply wild, along with the rest of the design on the midsole - white in front with a grey prism like mid panel and a black/blue design in the back. If that's not enough for you, sections of the sneaker glow in the dark as well, emanating a teal hue.

This is by far one of the hottest sneakers I have seen from NB in a while. Expect them to drop on September 19th.
